10 tips for more space in your greenhouse

With so much choice, it's not easy for gardeners to restrain their enthusiasm when sowing. And if all your seeds sprout, this can lead to a lack of space in your greenhouse and vegetable garden. Fortunately, at Euro-Serre, we have several useful tips on hand to maximize the available space in your greenhouse so that all your plants can find a spot.

1. Don't buy a greenhouse that's too small

We may be a bit late with this tip, but a greenhouse is rarely too large. Thanks to ideal growing conditions, your greenhouse will be full of delicious produce in no time. If you love gardening and have the space, opt for a larger greenhouse. The relatively small additional cost for a few extra square meters is worth the extra space you get in return.

2. Raise your greenhouse

You can adjust the height of any Euro-Serre from a glass height of 1.65 meters to 1.85 meters (even up to 2.05 meters), including a higher door for extra convenience. Perfect for more space in your greenhouse!

3. Install a rack

In addition to a seedbed, you can also opt for a rack. An aluminum frame with removable PVC growbox that you can use to grow and care for seedlings before planting them in your greenhouse. You can adjust the rack to a height (and width) that suits you so you can work at a comfortable level. The rack also doesn't get in the way, as plants happily grow in the spaces between and under the frame.

4. Opt for shelves

They are often forgotten, but are so convenient. Shelves are the ideal place to store materials so that your greenhouse stays neatly organized.

5. Consider your crops

Avoid challenging plants with relatively low yields, such as cabbages, if you have a small greenhouse. Instead, opt for crops like beans or cherry tomatoes that grow tall.

6. Choose compact varieties

You've probably heard of snack cucumbers or mini peppers. With these vitamin-packed options, you can save space while still having a varied harvest.

7. Use spirals or twine

Guide your vegetables using spirals or twine to prevent them from sprawling. Secure the twine to Hilti hooks or a tube, to be attached at the top of the greenhouse with tube clamps. By pruning the plants during the growing season, they stay neatly in place and you reduce the risk of diseases.

8. Use vertical space

Take advantage of the vertical space in your greenhouse by hanging baskets, for example, with strawberries. This allows you to grow more crops without taking up extra floor space.

9. Organize your tools

Keep your greenhouse clean and tidy. Keep the floor clear, store away items you no longer need, and don't leave tools and seed pots scattered around. Use accessories to hang or store things to save space and still have the right tools at hand.

10. Tile (at least) one square meter

If your greenhouse is large enough, consider tiling at least one square meter. Here you can place a chair and enjoy a well-deserved break between gardening sessions.
