Why doesn't my roof vent glass fit?

Something probably went wrong during assembly. In particular, check that you have correctly assembled the side profiles of the roof vent. One piece (the lip) of the relevant profile is longer than the other. The long lip needs to be facing inwards, otherwise your frame will be just too small. Check your assembly manual carefully to see the correct direction of the roof profiles.
